For over one thousand years, Sardis was an ancient metropolis, and a cultural bridge between Asia and Europe. The Harvard University Art Museum’s exhibit, “The City of Sardis: Approaches in Graphic Recording” shows how changing representations of Sardis’s architecture and landscape - from intricate 18th century paintings to state-of-the-art digital reconstructions - have transformed understanding of the city. This video and photo galleries feature a tour of the exhibit, interviews with the curators and archaeologists, and images from the archeological dig at Sardis. (more…)
