In developing economies such as India and South Africa a need for effective government leadership that ought to culminate in policies aimed at empowering the poor becomes much more critical than currently the case. Similarly business must be forced through legislation to contribute to social investment. Lastly but importantly political stability , which is an elusive concept on the African continent, is a fundamental requirement for poverty alleviation.
